The HSCB is responsible for ongoing planning, implementation and evaluation of the Strong Families/Safe Children (SF/SC) and Child Protection/Community Partners (CP/CP) Initiatives. Both initiatives are fiscally administered by the Department of Human Services. Currently funded projects include:
SAYPA (Straits Area Youth Promotion Academy) - a joint effort of the Cheboygan County Family Court, MSU Extension and the county's school districts.
From Decisions to Actions provided by North Country Community Mental Health
In-Home Parent Educator for families with children birth to age 5. This program is offered by Northern Family Intervention Services (NFIS).
Counseling Services (utilizing various providers) upon referral from the Cheboygan Department of Human Services.
Local Initiatives
Organize Spring Resource Fair
Organize Family Fun Day at the Fair (in conjunction with the County Fair Board and MSU Extension)
In partnership with the Cheboygan Housing & Homeless Coalition, organize Project Connect event (a free day of service)
